MELT
MELT MANDATORY ENTRY LEVEL TRAINING PROGRAM
MELT stands for mandatory entry-level training designed for truck drivers. This program was originally started in Ontario but later it expanded too. It’s a requirement before taking the test to get a class A license.
It was observed that despite having a license, drivers are not well equipped to handle commercial vehicles, leading to many serious risks for all road users. The MELT training program was designed to make sure that truck drivers get professional training before taking their road tests. It will help avoid all kinds of risks and public safety will be ensured as well. Atop Choice truck and Forklift driving school is an AZ driving school in Brampton Ontario that provides a MELT training program.
MELT was introduced to make sure that students get enough professional training to handle a commercial vehicles on and off the roads. Drivers who will get training through this program will more likely be able to handle risks and public safety too would be assured.
All of these requirements were determined through consultation with other provinces, and under the supervision of industry partners, driver instructors, and other commercial trucking stakeholders.
Provincial funding is also available for drivers to take this program. Many government programs exist to assist with the training costs and to support new Class 1 drivers entering the trucking industry moving forward
MELT program will help ensure new commercial drivers are trained to a higher standard. This training program will help drivers develop and improve their basic driving and entry- level industry skills All of them are required to ensure road safety and driver compliance with the National Safety Code. While a mandatory entry-level training program is likely to make roads safer for public use, of course, it will take time to see results from this program.
